What Do All These Prefixes Mean?

Hey everyone! 👋
Let’s talk about PREFIXES on Foxtrot Breedables—those little letter combos you see before trait names, and why they matter a lot more than you might think.

Foxtrot uses three main prefixes to help breeders quickly understand how a trait behaves, whether it passes, and how it can be used strategically. Once you know them, reading traits becomes way easier.

Let’s break them down. 🧩

🟡 LE — Limited Edition

What it means:

LE pets are limited-release animals, available only for a specific time frame or during a breeding drop.

Key things to know:

  • LE traits do NOT pass
  • ✅ You receive the entire pet and all its traits at once
  • 🧠 LE traits are ignored during breeding

So why do breeders love them?

👉 LEs are breeding tools.
Because the LE trait itself doesn’t pass, it won’t compete with other traits in your pair. That makes LEs excellent partners when you’re trying to push specific passing traits from the other parent.

Think of an LE like a copy machine—you still have a chance to pull traits from grandparents, but parents are favored first. This can be an absolute GAME CHANGER when refining your lines.

Think of an LE as a helper, not a roadblock.

🟢 SE — Special Edition

What it means:

SE pets are Special Editions, released for a short window during special events, tournaments, or promotions.

Key things to know:

  • SE traits PASS
  • ⏳ Only available for a limited time
  • 💎 Often event-only, prize-only, or special-purchase pets
  • 🧠 Those who own them control how they enter the secondary market

Here’s the big deal:

👉 Breeders control SE traits.
Once the event ends, the only way SE traits move forward is through you. That means SEs often shape the secondary market and influence long-term breeding lines.

If you like being on the cutting edge, SEs are where the action is.

🔵 NPT — Non-Passing Trait

Where you’ll see it:

NPT prefixes appear only on Pandas and Mammoths.

Why they exist:

When Foxtrot took ownership of Cute n’ Cuddly, breeders who already owned Pandas and Mammoths had their pets recreated for FREE, ensuring their original investments weren’t lost.

Key things to know:

  • NPT traits do NOT pass
  • 🧬 All NPT pets are Generation 1
  • 🧰 They function similarly to LEs in breeding

While NPTs are collectible and meaningful legacy pets, they can also be used strategically—paired with other animals to help push passing traits without interference.
That said, because they are Generation 1, their offspring will only ever reach Generation 2.

🧠 Why Prefixes Matter

These prefixes aren’t just labels—they’re instructions.

They tell you:

  • Whether a trait passes or not
  • How it behaves in breeding
  • How you can use the pet strategically

Once you understand LE, SE, and NPT, you’re no longer guessing—you’re planning.

Happy breeding!
